APPOINTMENT OF PROF. NGALAWA AS THE PRESIDENT-ELECT OF THE ECONOMIC SOCIETY OF SOUTH AFRICA (ESSA)

The Economics Association of Malawi (ECAMA) warmly congratulates Prof. Harold Ngalawa, who is a member of ECAMA, on his appointment as the President-Elect of the Economic Society of South Africa (ESSA).

Professor Ngalawa is a Professor of Economics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the founding member of the Macroeconimics Research Unit (MRU); the only research unit specializing in macroeconomics research in South Africa.

His appointment is historic, as he becomes the first black president of ESSA since its establishment in 1925. This milestone is a source of immense pride not only for Malawi but also for the entire region.

ECAMA wishes Prof. Ngalawa every success as he takes on this important role and continues to make remarkable contributions to the field of economics.
