Yesterday, the ECAMA Secretariat joined stakeholders at Crossroads Hotel, Lilongwe, for the official Launch and Dissemination of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Comprehensive Review and the Country-Led Evaluation of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy).
The event brought together the government, development partners, the Civil Society and other key stakeholders to reflect on progress, challenges, and the path toward achieving the SDGs by 2030. Discussions underscored that many SDG indicators remain fragile, with persistent data gaps, high vulnerability to climate shocks, coordination challenges, and the need for stronger accountability and inclusive implementation.
The meeting highlighted the urgent need to close critical data gaps and strengthen Malawi’s statistical systems so that progress can be properly measured and guided by evidence. Stakeholders also called for accelerated climate-resilient solutions and expanded access to clean and affordable energy, while emphasizing that development efforts must shift from fragmented interventions to collective impact. Establishing a national SDG roadmap was identified as a critical next step to drive coordinated action and deliver tangible results for Malawians.
